LIBERTY STREET PAVING STOPPED
An Injunction Issued Last Night
TO STOP PROCEEDINGS
On the Ground That the Petition Was Not Sufficient
The Liberty street pavement has been held up at least temporarily, by a temporary injunction issued at the instance of Mrs. Emma F. Peterson, restraining the mayor, aldermen and board of public works from making a contract with George H. Kneal or any other person for paving Liberty street. The injunction was served on the aldermen Monday at the close of their meeting. Previous to this, however, the council had ordered the board of public works to make a contract with George H. Kneal. The board of public works were, however, stopped, temporarily at least, from doing it by the injunction.
The bids opened by the board and referred to the council with the recommendation that Kneal's bid be accepted, were:
George H. Kneal... $25,074
J. Carland... 25,505
Harry Jennison... 25,681
E. L. Schneider... 26,258
The council decided to accept Mr. Kneal's bid. Mr. Kneal is the Lansing contractor who put in the Huron street pavement here.
