Still Wants The Charter Amended

STILL WANTS THE CHARTER AMENDED.

Ald. Fischer wants the charter amended. He wanted to hear from the council committee on charter amendments Monday night.

President Haarer. "Does the committee ever intend to report?"

Ald. Grose: "The time to pass charter amendments has passed."

City Atorney Sawyer: "The bill I had presented will enable the council to make any amendments it wants."

Ald. Fischer: "If this committee doesn't intend to act, why not appoint one that will?"

Ald. Koch: "The less you amend the charter the better."

City Attorney Sawyer: "The council committee can send up any bill they desire."

Ald. Grose: "If that is a fact, I will ask the clerk to call a meeting of the committee. I understood the clerk to say that Mr. Sawyer would not meet with us and I thought the time had passed."

City Attorney Sawyer: "I did say to the city clerk that I didn't intend to meet with the committee again. I had done my work."
