Miss Bower Maker Her Annual Report

There Are 65,936 Members of the Order and 322 Deaths in the Past Year

Miss Emma E. Bower, the great record keeper of the Great Hive, L. O. T. M. M., has made her yearly report to the commissioner of insurance. We give below a few figures that will prove interesting reading:

Number of subordinate Hives on Jan. 1, 1903.....860

Number of deaths during 1902.....322

Amount of death claims paid during 1902.....$283,075.00

Total number of death claims paid since organization.....1,757

Total amount of death claims paid since organization.....$1,615,264.17

Amount of total and permanent disability claims paid during 1902.....$8,475.00

Total amount paid to totally and permanently disabled members since organization.....$38,405.00

Death rate per 1,000 members.....6.53

Management expenses, per member.....$0.79

Miss Bower reports the institution of a hive at Ottumwa, Ia., the first one outside of the state.

On Saturday last Mrs. Helen M. Truesdell and Mrs. Elizabeth O'Keefe, of Port Huron, and Mrs. Sarah Jenney O'Brien, of Lexington, great finance auditors for the Great Hive, made their quarterly audit of the books of Miss Bower and found them correct.
