John P. Smith, of Kingsley street, dropped dead at noon Tuesday. Mr. Smith had been acting for the past two days on tlie jury for condenming the land about Felch park for park purposes and had been a close listener to the testimony and arguments. It was not known that he was feeling particularly unwell, although he had been suffering from heart disease for some time past. Shortly before noon the court took a recess until 1:30 p. m. and Mr. Smith went home. After reaching home he went down cellar for something and in a few moments his wife heard a fall and going down cellar fonnd Mr. Smith dead on the cellar floor. Mr. Smith was a retired Northfield farmer. He had ten children of whom only two sons and a daughter survive. He was married to his second wife last fall. He was well known aral had the esteem of those who knew him and his sudden oud carne as a shock to his friends.
