CONFEREES’ REPORT
-
House Committee Sends in a Scathing Denunciation.

Lansing, Mich., May 28. - By unanimous vote the report of the house conference committee on primary election was adopted Wednesday afternoon and the committee discharged. The document constitutes a scathing denunciation of the violation of republican party pledges by the proposition to pass a sop measure, and puts the primary reform issue once more squarely up to the senate. Another conference committee is asked for and the situation left in such shape that the senate must decide whether or not negotiations are to continue.

The report of the senate committee, which was adopted in the upper house, does not recommend the appointment of another conference committee. Machine senators now say they don't want any more conferences and that they will pass a bill like the Baird substitute and send it over to the house in order to shift the responsibility in case no reform law is enacted.
