Lansing, Mich., May 28. - Statistics incorporated in the monthly bulletin of vital statistics issued by Secretary of State Warner indicates that during the past five years the number of divorce applications pending in the courts of Michigan have doubled. A portion of the increase is accounted for by the fact that the law governing the reporting of statistics has been greatly bettered during the past few years. However, the court clerk's report that in 1898 a total of 2,898 bills for divorce were filed in Michigan, while in 1902 the number filed was 4,183. The number of divorces granted in 1898 was 1,901. In 1902 the number was 2,828.
