NEW PALMER WARD IS NOW OCCUPIED
The new Palmer ward at the University hospital is now being occupied. It is one of the finest to be found anywhere. Everything has been arranged most carefully for the comfort of both patients and attendants. New beds have been placed here which are a great improvement over those in the other wards. They are so high that the nurse does not have to stoop while attending to the patient.
The east side is given to women patients as they come in, who are waiting for examination and assignment to their particular ward. The west side will be used entirely for obstetrical patients. Mr. Gilmore, the superintendent, says that the great need now of the hospital is a nurses' home entirely separate from the hospital, so that the nurses off duty may have a place to rest where they can not be disturbed. Until this is provided the nurses will be compelled to use the second floor of the Palmer ward.
