Wm. B. Hatch, as attorney for Josephine A. Drury, of Ypsilanti, began suit this afternoon against the Michigan Benevolent association to foreclose a mortgage on certain lots in Hemphill's addition to Ypsilanti, the amount involved being $500.
The Michigan Benevolent association was formed in Ypsilanti in 1881 by Archibald Artis, Stephen Freeman, Anna Wilson, Wilmina Norris, Lucinda Quicksett and Susan Artis for the purpose of furnishing aid to its members and providing a death benefit.
