WORK TO BE RUSHED
---

Line be Completed to Chelsea in Forty-five Days and to Ann Arbor by January 1.

---

News has been rather scarce for the past few weeks regarding the Boland line, but now it is announced that work on the section between Grass Lake and Chelsea commenced Monday and will be rushed. The shift engine from Albion is at work and matters are being expedited, as it is the wish of officials to have cars in operation between Jackson and Chelsea in forty-five days. It may be possible to accomplish this feat, as the road for a number of miles east of Grass Lake needs little beyond reballasting and the installation of the electric rail by which cars are to be operated.

The surveyors are working between Dexter and Ann Arbor, yet their principal work being to straighten the line. As speed is one of the main objects of the promotors of the new line it is absolutely necessary that the line should be as straight as it is possible to make it. With this end in view the engineer has given instructions that all curves shall be straightened out so that at no point shall there be more than a three per cent curve. To do this of course it becomes necessary that a good many options now held shall be changed as to the descriptions covered, and this is being done, the people accepting the situation cheerfully and manifesting a disposition to treat the company fairly so long as they receive the like. In a few days constructionists will commence operations on the Chelsea-Ann Arbor section and it is hoped that this division may be in running order before the middle of winter. It is possible cars will make continuous runs from Ann Arbor to Battle Creek before January 1st.
