Are Claiming The Dead
Durand, Mich., Aug. 13.- Scores of inquiries regarding the unknown dead of last Friday's wreck have been received since the funerals Tuesday, and nearly as many people have been here looking for lost relatives. Many mistakes in proper identification were made.
Among Wednesday's visitors was Harry Hopkins of Grand Rapids, who came to claim the body of his brother. He said he had received a telegram from the circus that the brother was killed in the wreck. His description was not satisfactory.
Another was a man who gave his name as Hall, from a town in Indiana. He gave a description of a man whom he claimed to be his son. He was shown a photograph of a dead body and said it was the one he was looking for. The photograph was that of Charlee McCoy, whose body was identified and forwarded to his wife.
B. E Wallace, of the circus, has written to Mayor Mabury of Detroit saying that Thomas Hall, who was reported missing, has turned up and is working with the concern again.
