Groom Returns With Wierd Tale

Olivet, Mich., Aug. 13.- Alexander Franz, the Battle Creek young man who disappeared from this village last Wednesday, the day he was to have married Miss Winnifred Patton, returned here Wednesday, with a weird tale of how he had been kidnapped by hoboes and robbed of $13. He also tells of his prowess in knocking three of his assailants out before he submitted to capture. Franz claimed he made a dash for liberty near Goshen, Ind., which city he reached, after wandering through fields to evade pursuit, Monday night. From there he went to South Bend, and thence came here. The friends of Franz apparently believe his story, and the ceremony took place quietly last evening.
