Walter C. Mack and C. Mack Estate

Paid in $1100 This Morning - Amount Carried to December Nearly Same As Last Year

Among the early taxpayers Saturday morning was Walter C. Mack, whose taxes, including the C. Mack estate, amounted to a little over $1,100, the largest amount but one paid by individual taxpayers, that amount running very few dollars more.  This will go a good ways towards swelling the receipts of this the last day of paying summer taxes.  The city treasurer's office was a busy place this morning as it was yesterday morning, when $4,500 was taken in in the three hours, no one check exceeding $455.  Yesterday's receipts were over $6,000, and it was thought that today's would equal or exceed that amount.  The city treasurer this morning did not believe if taxes kept coming in as they were that there would be quite as many taxes carried over to December as usual.

The collection of taxes for this summer closed at 4 o'clock this afternoon and no taxes except sewer and paving taxes can now be paid until next December.
