Fred Dupper Gets Himself Into Trouble

While at Portage Lake

Disgusting Exhibition Which May Prove a Serious Matter for the Young Man

A warrant was issued Wednesday afternoon by Justice Gibson for the arrest of Fred Dupper, charging him with indecent exposure. The alleged offense is said to have occurred at Portage Lake, where the accused was temporarily stopping with several others. The complaint is made by County Auditor J. E. McGregor, of Ypsilanti, who claims to have witnessed the exposure along with several others. The accused, it is alleged, came up over a bank from the lake and passed to the cottage he was occupying, in plain view and not more than 20 or 30 feet distant, of a number of men and women, in a condition of absolute nudeness.

Dupper was arrested and taken before Justice Gibson, where he demanded a hearing. This was set for September 1st and his bond fixed at $200 which was given, his father, Jacob Dupper, and John Frey going on same as sureties.

The offense charged is a serious one, being a circuit court case.

There is said to have been considerable other unseemly conduct about this lake resort lately and the prominent Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti people who have had their families there for an outing have been deeply incensed and are determined to have such conduct stopped. There may be other complaints and arrests.
