ONE FACTORY TO DOUBLE FORCE

PENINSULA MANUFACTURING CO. IS GROWING

Just Adding the Manufacture of Letter Files to It's Sectional Bookcase Business

"What this town needs," said a prominent business man this week, "is manufactories, and they ought to be talked about. Create an interest in the Industries of this town and you will add to the money of the town."

Charles Hurd of the Peninsular Mfg. Co., is not the man who said this, but he would assent to it. He does say, however, that the people lose sight of the fact that the money for wares comes from outside the city, but is spent inside. That is, that they sell most of these goods out of town, in the United States, Canada, and England, but most of the pay roll expends itself here. For the people they employ are all Ann Arbor men. This company started here about six months ago, and employed ten or fifteen men. The industry is growing quite rapidly and the company is putting in a letter file system which new feature will give more work and double the number employed within a year.
