And Seventeen Voted to Fix Judge's Salary

County Valuation Has Increased Largely - School Commissioner Fails to Get Raise in Salary
The Board of Supervisors wabbled yesterday. The majority of them went on record as not knowing their own minds yesterday. Supervisor Raymond, of Sharon, moved the reconsideration of the vote of yesterday fixing Judge Kinne's salary from the county at $2,500 and spoke strongly for fixing it at $1,500 as did Supervisor Holmes, of Ypsilanti town. The motion to reconsider had 16 yeas, 12 nays. The motion by Mr. Raymond to fix the salary at $1,500 had 17 yeas, 11 nays. A question was raised as to its requiring a two-thirds vote and the matter was put off until tomorrow.
The board instructed its chairman and clerk to sign the petition for the paving of S. Fourth avenue in front of the court house whenever half the foot frontage on the opposite side had signed the petition.
The school commissioner wanted an increase of salary, but the Board decided that his salary had been fixed for the term.
The Board fixed the price for board of prisoners at 16 2/3 cents a meal when there was an average of 10 or less prisoners a month, 12 1/2 cents when between 10 and 20 prisoners and 10 cents when the month average was over 20 prisoners.
The janitor's salary was fixed at $500 with $50 for work at the jail.
The Board equalized on the basis of the footing of the rolls. The total amount of real and personal property in the county is $35,326,891, an increase of $799,400 over last year. Last year the increase was $740,190 over the year previous.
