A very interesting game of. football was played this morning between elevens from the First Ward and the Catholic school, the average of the contestants being about twelve years. The following are the details of the game:

The Catholics kicked off and the First Wards went for 20 yards. They were then held for downs but secured the ball again. They went for a touchdown but missed the goal. The score was then 5 to 0. The Catholics kicked off again and First Wards went with the ball. They again worked a touchdown and tried goal but It was missed, The Catholics again kicked off. The First Wards went for a 15 yard run and worked another touchdown. The goal was made by punting out, Chatterton first punted out and Keys heeled it. Keys kicked goal. The score was now 10 to 0 at the end of the first half.

In the second half the First Wards kicked off and the Catholics went for a touchdown, giving them 5. They did not kick goal. The First Wards kickoff and the Catholics got near goal but were held for downs. The Catholics and First Wards held the ball around there until the half was over. Final score 16 to 5.

The Firsi Ward line-up was as follows: Stamffler, left end; Royse, left tackle; .Jones, left guard; Patterson, center; Standish, right guard; Dunn, right tackle: Keys, right end: Chatterton. quarterback; Schwer, full back; Scott, left half; Wuerth, right half. F. Hensel was referee and R. Anderson umpire. The game was played in twenty minute halves.
