NEWS NOTES FROM ABOUT THE COUNTY

Whittaker, Mich., Oct. 21.- Mrs. Sarah Kerr died al the home of her daughter, Mrs, Fred Wanty, yesterday momIng. She had been in poor health for some time, a few weeks ago she fell and fractured her shoulder and this no doubt hastened her death. She leaves four children, two sons and two daughters. The funeral will be held al Schofield and the remains taken to Maybee for burial.

John Cornell of Detroit, has ben visiting at Smith Mix's the past few days.

State Tax Commissioner S. S. Bibbins passed through town yesterday.

Salem, Oct. 21. Miss Ruth Munn spent Saturday and Sunday in Ypsilanti visiting friends.

The young people of the Salem Congregational church will give an entertainment in the near future. Look out for something comical and good.

Mrs. N. A. Brokaw called on Salem ladies one day this week.

Mrs. Butler attended the Kings Daughters convention at Northville this week.

Next Tuesday, Oct 27. Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Walker will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.

The West Salem people begin to think the rural phone is a standing joke.

Mr. and Mrs. N. A. Brokaw entertained Mr. and Mrs. Charles Burd of Northfleld the first of the week.

Mrs. Kate Smith returned home Saturday from Molene. Ills., where she has spent the past three weeks at the home of her sister, Mrs. Saber. She also attended the wedding of a niece.

Pittsfield. Oct. 21,- Wm. Eedy has purchased the Finley farm on the Saline electric line.

Quite a lot of corn is still to be cut in this vicinity.

Rob Roe has purchased a new Plano corn husker and expects to do a rushing business this fall.

Geo. Klager and family have moved into their new house.

Potato digging is the order of the day. A poor yield and a large percentage of rotten ones is the general report.

Mr. E. Hoffman of Detroit, visited at L Summer's last Sunday.

Mrs. White of Ypsilanti is the teacher in the Carpenter district this year.

Sugar beets are a good crop around these parts.

The funeral of Mrs. J. Murphy was held Sunday from her mother's home in York. The deceased leaves, besides her mother, a husband and five small children to mourn her loss. Our sympathies go out to the bereaved family in their great loss.

Mrs. W. Lathrop is visiting friends in Chicago.

L. Summer has recovered from his recent severe illness.

Cards are out announcing the marriage of Miss Osta Mae Carpenter and our genial mail carrier, Harry Rose, at the home of the bride's parents near Pettysville, Oct. 28.

Mr. Jno. Shankland of Superior was a South Lyon visitor last Saturday.

Mrs. Godfrey Bauer of Salem is visiting relatives in Detroit for a few days.

The Misses Pfieffle and Fraiser of Northfield, visited at J. D. Stafford's Monday.

Mr. W. B. Rorabacher of Worden, made a business trip to Detroit Wednesday.

Miss Bertha Hamilton of Salem, went to Charlotte Tuesday to attend the wedding of her cousin.

Mr. Wm. Bolgos spent Wednesday in Ann Arbor on business.

Miss Alice Fohney of Salem, is visiting relatives in Ann Arbor for a few days.

Mr. Vine Covert of the A. A. H. S. spent Saturday with his grandfather, Mr. Wm. Manley.

Miss Iva Tait of Salem, will entertain the Young People's Flinch Club at her home Friday evening of this week.

Miss Ann Stafford accompanied by her mother, returned from her visit at Howell.

Miss Effie Turner who has been the guest of her sister. Mrs. Edith Rorabacher, of Salem, returned to her home in Jackson Tuesday.

Mr. Wm. Walsh of the Ann Arbor Music Co., called on his Superior friends during the past week.

The pupils of the Flintoff school of Northfield, will give a social at the home of their teacher, Miss Mitchell, Friday evening of this week, for the benefit of the organ fund.

Mrs. Allie Galpin of Superior, who has been dangerously ill with typhoid fever, for the past month, is slowly recovering.

The L. A. S. of Dixboro, met at the parsonage Thursday of this week.
