The reception Monday night given by the Bethlehem church to its new pastor, the Rev. Mr. John, and family, was attended by two hundred of the congregation and friends. Mr. John's remarks to the gathering, after the hand shaking had ceased, rang trim and good and to the point. "Just what we wanted the new minister to say," said one who heard.

He spoke to his people as friend to friend. "I am a man not without faults, and never will be. But you must bear with me. My desire among you is to dwell together in unity."

Hymns by the congregation were sung at intervals during the reception. Michael Gauss leading in singing.

From 7 to 10 the crowd enjoyed a social, getting asquainted evening, and left with the impression, said a member, "that our minister is the best there is."
