Trouble Over Old Building

Residents Don't Want It In Their Neighborhood

Mrs. Rentschler Was Going to Move I To South Division Street--Protest Filed With Board of Public Works

Mrs. Christine Rentschler is having trouble in her effort to erect a two-story brick building at 124 E. Washington street.

Some weeks ago she had plans drawn for a building and the contract let. The work was to begin this week by the removal of the old building, now on the lot, to a lot owned by Mrs. Rentschler on S. Division street, near Hill street. The residents in that vicinity, however, did not relish the old building in their neighborhood and consequently got up a hot potest, signed by about a dozen property holders, which was presented to the board of public works at their meeting Wednesday evening.

The board took no action in the matter further than to order the communication placed on file. In the meantime the old building still occupies the same location it has for these many years.
