Quiet Meeting Of The Council

The council Monday confirmed the assessment rolls of the two new lateral sewer districts in the second ward so that the taxes on these districts may now be paid at the city treasurer's office.

A resolution was passed empowering the lighting committee to employ an electrician to get at the quality of light furnished the city and whether or not it is up to the standard required by the contract for street lighting.

Louis Rohde petitioned the council through his lawyer, Frank Jones, for $600 damages to his property by reason of grade separation. This is one of the things that the Ann Arbor railroad cares for under the new ordinance which was opposed by the Dean interests including their daily organ. The petition was referred to the street committee and the city attorney.

Eli W. Moore petitioned for relief on account of the gravel pit the city has opened on Pontiac street, which he claims has left the street in a dangerous condition.

The relative merits of brick and cement crosswalks came up for a short discussion.
