A Great Night With The Spooks
MISS CORNELIA NICHOLS' HALHOWE'EN BARN PARTY
It was a real old fashioned party to the great delight of all visitors
Miss Cornelia Nichols of Geddes Avenue entertained in a most original way fifty friends at an old fashioned barn party Friday evening. The house when the guests arrived was lit throughout with candles. At 8 o'clock the bells rang and they were summoned to the barn, the great door was wide open and at either side stood two ghastly looking figures in white, who welcomed the guests to the habitation of ghosts and hobgoblins. The barn was decorated with cornstalks, autumn leaves, jack o'lanterns and red bunting.
After the assembly there, one of the ghosts announced an old fashioned spelling match, and after much merriment, the prize was secured by Miss Marks. Then one of the ghostly entertainers led the way to a large bon fire, where the guests held a war dance. A marsh mallow roast followed about another fire, after which the company returned to the barn and danced the Virginia Reel, Money Musk, Hoe Down and the Wild Irishman.
After this the ghosts and their company were ready for refreshments, which were of a most substantial order. On the table was a big yellow pumpkin, and heaped around it were grapes, pears, apples and nuts.
Green and white ribbons were spread from the top of the pumpkin, which the guests pulled on and drew out their fortunes. After music and all round singing, when the candles were low, and the ghosts had disappeared, the guests departed, after a memorial night with the spooks.
