NEW RESIDENCES IN CHELSEA

Chelsea, Mich., Nov. 2.--L. P. Vogel, one of the village apothecaries has a number of men at work on the new residences that he is erecting on Middle street, east.

John F. Heiber has his new residence on Taylor street, well on the way toward completion, and it is said that John is very seriously considering the matrimonial question and that the happy event will soon take place.

Jas. Bachman so far this season has dried over three tons of apples at his apple dryer.

The bean buyers of this place report that the farmers are simply flooding them with the Boston Staples and that they are at times crowded to find room for storage.

The Merchant Milling Co. have just about completed the work of overhauling their mill. They have increased their flouring capacity from 50 to 75 barrels and have put in sufficient machinery so that they have a buckwheat grinding outfit of 100 barrels per day.

Coach Wirt S. McLaren, and two pig skin chasers, called the Chelsea Juniors, tried their skill against the choir boys of Ann Arbor Saturday afternoon.

Rev. T. E. Arnold of Albion occupied the pulpit of the Baptist church Sunday morning and evening.

The Epworth League of the M. E. church had a special music program at their meeting in the church Sunday evening.

The onion growers of this place have begun marketing their crop and while the yield is far short of ordinary years the bulbs of this year are fair lookers and their breath smells as loud as ever.

Several cars of sugar beets are being loaded at this station and the crop seems to have been a good one.

Harvey Spegelburg is again employed at the Bank drug store as a salesman.

Freeman Bros., John Parker and Wm. Caspry have each added to their places of business handsome cash registers this week.

The Chelsea carpenters have during the past building season erected sixteen new houses for the inhabitants of the burg besides a large amount of work that they have done for the farmers in Sylvan and adjacent towns.
