The American House was the scene of a wedding Wednesday, quiet, but savoring of the magnificent, when at 4 o'clock in the public parlor, Miss Alice C. Staebler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. Staebler, was married to Willis G. Johnson, of this city. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Mr. John, of the Bethlehem church. To the music of the Lohengrin wedding march played by Miss Lillian Trost of Toledo, the bridal party marched from the room above, little Clara Staebler, niece of the bride, dressed in white, going before and bearing the wedding ring on a silver heart. Following her was the bridesmaid, Miss Florence Baty of Toledo, niece of the groom, who was dressed in a traveling suit of cadet blue, and carried yellow roses. In the wake of the bridesmaid were the two flower bearers, little Edith Staebler, dressed in white albatross, and Master Paul Staebler, who emptied their baskets of pretty flowers and roses before the bride, who walked over them to meet the bridegroom. She carne alone, dressed in a traveling suit of brown, carrying white roses. Her hat of brown surmounted a fluff of brown hair, and the silk of her waist with its lace and chiffon belonged only to the bride. In a bower of ferns and palms, the wedding ceremony was performed, the groom being attended by Walter Staebler, brother of the bride. After the service, the bride led the way to the wedding supper, where thirty relatives of the bride and groom sat down to the long white table trimmed with smilax and chrysanthemums of yellow and white. After the banquet was over the afternoon was spent in merrymaking. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson left Wednesday evening for a trip to Chicago. They will be at home after January 1, at 618 Detroit street. Both young people are well known in Ann Arbor, Miss Staebler baring graduated from the Ann Arbor High school and been a pupil in the School of Music. Mr. Johnson carne to Michigan from New York state eight years ago, and is well known in Ann Arbor as the alderman of the fourth ward.
