The members and congregation of the Bethlehem church brought their tithes into the store house Tuesday and a pound social that was multiplied unto seventy times seven was the result. Eighty-four dollars in money was brought and fourteen barrels and seven bushels of the necessary things of life were packed before the evening closed. This will be sent to the orphan asylum in Detroit, which is under the management of the Evangelical church. The M. C. R. R. will transfer all that was given free of charge. The social session was very pleasant, the Rev. Mr. Neumann, superintendent of the orphans' home and formerly pastor of the Bethlehem church in this city, was present, with his wife. He gave a short address, being introduced by the Rev. Mr. John, and told many interesting and amusing experiences of his office. There was a large attendance, who took pleasure in doing good.
