DIRECTED VERDICT AGAINST RAILROAD

The case of Elizabeth J. Whitney vs. the Ann Arbor R. R. was concluded in the circuit court Saturday, Judge Kinne directing a verdict for the plantiff.

John Miller, an employee of the railroad, was garnished by Justice A. E. Gibson and the company paid the money into court, but later Miller's sister-in-law, Mrs. Whitney, commenced suit against the railroad claiming that before the garnishee case Miller had assigned $60 of his wages to her and that the assignment had been acknowledged.

A letter from the company stating that they would not acknowledge an assignment of wages unless it were a matter of board, was produced, and as Mrs. Whitney's bill was for board and room, the communication was held to be an acknowledgement of the assignment.

The railroad was directed to pay the $60 to the court.
