ARE REMOVING OLD LAWRENCE BARN

Ann Arbor is losing one of its old landmarks for the old Lawrence barn on the Ferry athletic field is being removed. When John Lawrence sold the property he reserved the barn, and the structure has been purchased by Dr. E. B. Gibson, of Pittsfield, who will have it set up on his farm in Pittsfleld. The work of tearing down the building, transporting the material to Pittsfield and setting it up again has been entrusted to Hochrein & Brown.

The Lawrence barn was built in the early '30's and was for many years one of the prominent landmarks of the city. It is a large building remote from any dwelling, so it became the resort of tramps and crooks, who infested it so thickly that it became known among the police as "Tramps' Rest." It was a favorite hiding place for stolen goods and the officers have made in and under it more than one find of missing valuables.
