MRS. C. M. THOMPSON DIED MONDAY
Mrs. C. M. Thompson, one of Ann Arbor's old residents, died Monday mornlng of old age at the age of 77.
Mrs. Thompson was born in Batavia, N. Y., and when three years old was brought to Ann Arbor by her parents, Edward and Adeline Torry. The greater part of the journey was made overland in a prairie schooner. Ann Arbor was then merely a straggling settlement and Mrs. Thompson saw it pass through all its various stages of development. The University campus was a part of her uncle's farm, and her father owned extensive tracts of land in and about the city. Her husband was in the dry goods business here for many years.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by three children--Mrs. A. J. Mayhew and C. M. Thompson, of this city, and T. C. Thompson of Tacoma, Wash.
The funeral was held at the residence of C. M. Thompson, 736 Packard street, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
