THE FUNERAL OF MRS. ANGELL

FRIENDS ASSEMBLED TO PAY THE LAST TRIBUTE

Addresses by Rev. C. S. Patton and Prof. D'Ooge--Many Friends from the State

The funeral of Mrs. Sarah Caswell Angell took place Saturday at 11 o'clock at the residence on S. University avenue. A large number of friends gathered to pay their last tribute of respect to the memory of one who for so many years has served faithfully and graciously the friends who knew her and the community which honors her. Friends from all over the state were present and nearly every regent of the University was there, bowed with the grief which none could hide. Flowers, marvelous in their beauty and luxuriance, were everywhere throughout the house, sent by societies, fraternities, friends and sympathizers. The funeral sermon was given by the Rev. Mr. Patton of the Congregational church, where Dr. and Mrs. Angell always attended. As one who knew Mrs. Angell, Mr. Patton spoke of the great good she had done, the service she had been to the world who knew her and the loss she would be to the community which mourned her. Mr. Patton's remarks were a fitting tribute to a great woman. Prof. D'Ooge assisted in the services and offered the prayer after the sermon. The music was in charge of Prof. Stanley and given by the Congregational Church Choir, who sang "Abide with Me," "There's a Wideness in God's Mercy," solo from St Paul, "But the Lord is Mindful of His Own" and "Peace, Perfect Peace." The burial in Forest Hill cemetery was private and took place immediately after the services at the residence and the last prayer was said by the grave at Forest Hill. The pall-bearers were: Honorary--Richard Hudson, C. S. Denison, A. B. Prescott, I. N. Demmon, H. B. Hutchins, J. B. Davis. Active--A. H. Lloyd, J. R. Effinger, C. Coley, G. W. Patterson, P. R. dePont. H. C. Adams.
