TALES OF CITIES.

Holton, Mo., with a population of 4,300, has seventeen churches.

Nearly one-third of the 381,000 inhabitants of Cleveland, O., were born in Europe.

The only large cities that have not a large German population are Boston, with less than 5 per cent Germans, and Washington, with 7 per cent.

Professor Charles Zueblin of the University of Chicago says that city has the most insignificant park system in the United States and in park acreage is near the bottom of a list of cities with a population of 100,000 or more.
