The large assemblage presont included evory prominent Government and foreign official at Washington. The doath of Rear Admiral Stephen B. Quackenboss, United States navy (retired), occurred at his home in Washington on tho 5th, at the age of 67 yeara. E. L. Lami-son-, the Ropublican Heutenant-Governor of Ohio, who was ousted f rom his position by the Democratie majority in tho Senato, decided on the 5th not to carry the oase to the Supreme Court. A. Ii. Fi.iiMixc: was on the fith inaugurated Governor of West Virginia. Josik'a SEXTON, fomder of the Urbana Citizen and the oldest editor in Ohio, died in Urbana on the 7th, aged 83 years. He had been in the publishing business since 1821. It was stated on good authorityon the 7th that Secretary Tracy would not relinquish his official dutics on account of his recent terrible affllction. The Dcmocrats of the Fourth Congressional district of Pennsylvania on the 7th nominated V. M. Ayer for the Congteaslonal vaoanoy caused by the doath of W. D. Kelley.
