A NEW FAST TRAIJí. QuickTime Promised Bctwcen Cliicagro and New York. President II. B. Ledyard of the Michigan Central returned yesterdiiy trom ti four days' trip to New York, where he had been to confer with tlie officials ot the New York Centnil & Hudson Kiver railroad about starting a new fast vestibule train between New York and Chicago over the Michigan Central lines. The new train will be known as the Michigan Central limited. It will be made lip of the fliK-st cars that have ever been constructed, and will be the fastest train in the world. The time of departure from New Y"ork has not been determlned exuctly ,but will be late in the afternoon, probably 5 o'clock, and the train will arrive in Chicigo at the same time the next afternoon, which, making allowance for the hour's diftcrence in time between the two cities, will be a running time of 23 hours. To do tliis a rate of over 40 miles an hour will have to be maintained for the entire distance wholly irrespective of stopfeniuge across the Detroit river, and other necessaiy delays. This run will be one hour quiefcer than that of the famous L:ike Shore 'flyer" and two Iiours quicker than the Pennsylvania limited express. All possible sliort cuts will be taken. The train will not enter the city of Buffalo at all, but will run over the " old road " of the New York Central via Lockport, thereby shortening r.he entire run about 15 miles. The enst bound train will leave Chicago in the morning and run on about the sanie schedule. Work Is in progress at the Buffalo shops of the Wagner Palr.ee Car Co. on 20 cars which are being built exclusively for this new service. The train will carry nu coaches. A cotnbination baagage and smoking car will be next to the loconiotive. Next to this will'be another combination car, in which will be the bathrooms, tonsorlal rooms and the extensive library well stocked with books of travel, light novéis and other works of a character acceptable to travelera. This car will also contain an elegant drawlng room fitted up in Oriental style. Adjoinlng this car will be another, which wül be taken up with a cafe, dining saloon and cuisine. The sleeping cars will make up the rest of the train. The Michigan Central limited will, of course, pass through Detroit, and will no doubt prove a great favonte with the MJoMgMi travellng public.
