The mayor has sent in a veto of the street railroad ordlnance which is exclting considerable comment. For Instance, one reason lic gives for hls action is that the "company shoulil be requlred to select onc of the hlghways leading to the fairground " for their spur track] The joke of it is that the company lias already selected a route to the fair ground, and it is through private grounds, therefor the city has no control over it there. This spur track is already bciiiR put down, and the mayor has no more business interferin; tban lie has over the Chelsea fair grounds. But the mayor makes a grealcr mistake ín bis next suggestion wliere he says: "I would furthcr suggest that the council reserve the right to amend or repeal this ordinance or revoke tbc privilege granted under it." When we take Into consideralion that tbe oompapy have In goocl failli already expended some fifty tbousand dollars on this road under thcir ordinance, to take lt away now would be tbe rankest injustice and robbery. The city would bave no right to do it legally or morally. Such a proposition is oue of the worst kinds of bad faith, and the community stands amnzed at the proposition.
