There are two things Ann Arbor can bonst of. One is her excellent little flre department; the other her beautiful court house lawn. A trip of several hundred miles by the wrlter failed to iind better onesanywhere. The Detroit Evening News, in pursuance of its usual course toward the UniTersity, is now growling about the building of the hospitals. The telephone system of tliis city, we are imformed, is Boon to be overhauled and thoroughly changed. Some of the wires will be placed underground, others placed in the alleys instead of upon the maln streets, and a general iraprovement made. Manager Keech always keeps an eye out for improvements. The survey has been made for the new Ypsllanti & Ann Arbor street railway, and work will be commenced at once. All material has been ordered, and the proprietors hope to have cars running by Dec. let. We all hope tlie same wiy. A trip to the fair grounds Monday developed a good condition of ie grounds, nnd an excellent prospect for tlic coming exuibltlon. The track is in fair shape for a new track, and wlien completed will be as good is tliere is In the country. The southern exhibit will be on hand nextweek. All the stal Is for stock has been taken already and the autliorities are to orect 100 more at once. The electrio street cars will be running to the grounds by the time the exhibit is open, and water mnins are being extended so that all convenlences will be had. The buildings are all in ilne condition, and everything appears to Indícate a good year for the society.
