From the books of Poormaster Sipley, we Bnd that the city of Anu Arbor had to pay during the year 1890, $1,468.77 for the support of its poor. This is a vory moderate amount in comparison to some seasons back. when tlie amount lias run as high as $2,800 and upwards. September 7.!ó October 100.83 November H'7 88 December 174.82 Total (1,468.77 Mr. Sipley has recently purchased about eeventy-fi of wood at !■.- i") and $3,50 per cord; and as the wood is now delivered by the city teams and help, it makes a great saving in tliis one item. The average is about seventy-five families that receives aid.
