He was educated in private schools and al Oakland Acadeiny. At the beginning of hoatilities in 1881, he recruited a uompany and entered the Union army as tieutenant in the Sixth Virginia [nfantry. He was promoted to the rank of captain and major, and was mustered out with the army of Shenandoah in August, L865. A year later be removed to Nebraska, where he coinnienced t read luw, being admitted to the bar in 1869. Mr. Dorsey luis been engaged in tlie banking business daring the last ten years. He has been a member of the last three cougresses anti is chairman of the committee on Banking and C'nrrency and is the champion of the Bill allowing national banks to increase their currency ten per cent. He will be suceeed in the next House by F. T. Curren of the Fariner's Alliance.
