Ta ma, Wash., Jan. 20. - The Northern Pacific railroad has another big scheme on haud. lt is reported on . good authority that since the railroad's big land grant was contirmed by Congress last spring it has 1-een quietly preparing to lay claim to the odd-nurubered sections of the Puyallup TnrUan reservation in this county. lt contained 18.000 acres of fertile land, valued f rom its proxiinity to Tacoma at 520.(100.(100. The railroad'g elaiui will be based on the fact that when Congress gave the company its huid grant twenty-fivf years ago the boundaries of the reservatioi bad nut been di'fined, and couspiuently the land came within the provisions of the grant. Four years ago the reservation was laid out as it now is and tlie land patented to the 200 Indian families in severalty. In case the Northern Pacin'c's claim is upheld the Indiana to whom were patented the odd-immbered sections wilj have void titles.
