The Itaüan government having abolished the law of suceession, by virtue oí ■which the great private art collections in Rome descended to the eldest sou of each famüy with the bulk o the parental fortune, these famous collections are now in danger of being scattcred, as the parental fortunes are divided among the children, and the expense of raaintaining the galleriea for the public benefit f alls heavily upon the head of the furaily.
