From the Flint Citizen of May lGth '91, the following extracta are taken that will interest many of our citizens. The names mentioned are familiar ones to the older people of Ann Arbor : EEPUBLICAN MEETING AT ANN ARBOR. At a meeting of the Kepublicans of the City and town of Ann Arbor, held at the Court House on the 13th inst., for the purpose of making arrangeinents to accomodate the Mass Convention, called at Ana Arbor on the 26th inst.. Hon. Charles Tripp was called to the chair and T. W. Koot áppointed secretary. Hon. D. Mclntyre, President of the Republican Assoc'iation of Aun Arbor, addressed the meeting at some length. in his usual eloquent and forcible manner upon the principies and prospects of the Republican Party. Axx Arbor Coxventiox-Delegates at Half Fare. - An arrangement bas been effected by which persons wishing to attend the Republican State Convention at Ann Arbor on the 2(th inst., will be taken over the Michigan Central and Southern Railroad at half fare. "We trust our Republican friends throughout the state will see to it that their different Countiesandlocalities are largely represented in this Convention. It is time for action - let no man be found asleep ! Sometimes the ashes that are used for gravel in the streets contain other ingrelients. Will Gurstner's horse injured ts foot badly by running a nail into it which was in one of these heaps on Diision street. Two printers who have been working ora time at the Register office, nained ack Gow and Thos. Matthews were arested in Detroit Monday by OfRcer Peerson, and are now in jail charged with ;he revolting crime of rape. If the comjlainant's story is true, and there are ew who doubt it, this is one of the most ggravated cases that has ever been eommitted in this city. The details will robably be brought out in court, but re not such as a reputable paper would are to nárrate. Jack Frost got in his work again last ight, killing what grapes that happend to escape his last attack, and makng sad hovac in the gardens. All of hich is very discouraging to the tillers f the soil. If the frost woukl only kill ie little green louse, the cut worm, and ther pests, it would be partial recmpense for the destruction made, jut somehow the peste all live, and he fruit and plants that are useful and n which they feed all die. The year oesn't open well for agriculturalists. Go to the balls, but don't dance- Billard players.
