A great deal has been said of late about the United States cruiser Cliarleston and the Chillan cruiser Esmeralda. Herewith is produced a cut Bhowing tho exact appearance of both vessels at sea. The cuts are froin photos recently taken. The Esmeralda was taken ata range ofinile, the Charleston at 20 rods. The two war ships ai-e evenly niatched, carrying 10 juns eacli. The recent possibility of a naval conflict between the two caused great speculation as to tlie stayingqualitiesof eitlier. A victory could llave been gaioed by either hrougli the superior judgement of of├╝cers and sailors. That tiie Charleson cnrried Lhe best drilled crew there s no doubt.
