Washington, Feb. 17.- It has become prettj' generally known throug-hout the War Department that the sentence of the court-martial iu the case of Major Charles K Throekmorton, who ivas tried in New York some weeks ago on charges of duplicatingr his pay accounts, is nnssai trom the service. The verdict will not be officially announced until the President has formally acted on tlie papers. A report prevatls that the senlence is accompanied by a reeoramendation for merey signed by all the members of the court. It is generally expected, in view of this faot and the officer's long service, that 1he President will mitig-ate the sentence to two or three years' suspension on reduced pay.
