COUNCII, CHAMBEK. I Abs ARBon, February lTth, 1892. f Adjourned session. l'resident Cooley being absent, the Council was called to order by City Clerk Miller. Roll called. A quorum present. Absent- Aid. Filhnore, Rehberg and President 3. A quorum being present, on motion of Aid. Herz, Aid. Wines was elected president pro. tem. Minutes of Feb. lóth meeting read and approved. FETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS. Apetition signed by W. M. Clark and twelve other residents and property holders of the 4th and 6th wards asking for the extensión of the water main on Observatory street and placing flre hydrants thereon. Received and referred to the Water Cominittee. BEPORTS STANDING COMMITTEES. ORDINANCE. CUairman Martin stated that the Committee on Ordinance were ready to give the third reading of an OrdinanceRelative to Street Railways. Aid. Hall moved that Rule Sixteen be suspended and that the Ordinance entitled an Ordinance relative to Street Railways be now read a third time, which motion prevailed by a yea and nay vote as follows: Yeas- Aid. Manu, Wines, Herz, Martin, Allmendinger, O'Hearn, Ferguson, Taylor, Hall, Kitson.- 10. Xays- None. The third reading of an ordinance entitled an Ordinance Relative to Street Railways. After which the president having stated the question to be' "Shall this Ordinance Pass ?" Aid. Hall moved to amend by striking out the words "turn-tables" and "side tracks," which amendments prevailed by a yea and nay vote as follows: Yeas- Aid. Mann, Wines, Herz, Martin, Allmendinger, O'Hearn, Ferguson, Taylor, Hall. Kitson,- 10. Nays- None. The ordinance as thus amended then passed by a yea and nay vote as follows: Yeas- Aid. Mann, Wines, Herz, Martin, Allmendinger, O'Hearn, Ferguson, Taylor, Hall, Kitson.- 10. Nays- None. KBPORTS OF CITY OFFICERS. City Clerk Miller reported the posting of the notices of Electors' Meeting, to be held Feb. 29th, 1892. Received and filed. M0TION8 AND KESOLUTIONS. By Aid. Mann: Resolved, That the Mayor and City Clerk be and tliey are hereby ordered and directed to draw a warrant on the University Hospital Aid Bond Fund tor three thousand, eieht dred and forty dollars ($3,840.00) payable to Harrison Soule, treasurer of the University of Michigan. Which resol ution prevailed by a yea and nay vote as follows: Yeas - Aid. Mann, Wines, Ilerz, Martin, Allmendingsr, O'Hearn, Fer guson, Taylor, Hall, Kitson - 10. Nays- Ñone. By Aid. O'Hearn: Resolved, That this Common Council have learned with great satisfaction of the report of the Committee of Congress of the United States, on the bill to appropriate money for the construction of a public building in the city of Ann Arbor. Resolved, further, That the effort of Congressman Gorman in behalf of said bill are greatly appreciated by nis constituents, and the thanks of the people of the city of Ann Arbor are kindly extended to Mr. Gorman, and a hope is expressed that such appropriation will become a law to the end that the city of Ann Arbor may become possessed of a public building suitable to its needs. Resolved, That the City Clerk do certify these resolutions to Mr. James S. Gorman, Member of Congress. Which resolutions unanimously prevailed. Aid. Taylor moved that election boothsto the number of five be set up at Electors" Meeting, to be held on the 29th inst., and that Electors have ao. cess to the same at such election which motion prevailed. On motion the Council adjourned.
