As a general thing it la best not to notice attacku made by corresponden-te and papers, but the article that appeared in the Detroit Fres Press last ISaturday from lts correspondent in tuin city, is .so onanifestly unfair and unkind to the editor of this paper tlwit itis Jioit out of place perhaps, to raakc an exception in this instance, to the rule. The article referred to is very ingeniously ivorded, and carries the impresfeion itliat the editor of this paper is committiiig a crime against the public, slandering President Angelí, oí the university, and decciving e very body ipromiscuously. Granting that the "impression" of the Free Press articl ds purely for political purposes, without taklng into consideration any prospective real estáte deal the correspondent here may be interested in, we wish to inphatically deny the truth of the assertionfi made in that article. A man is a fooi who wiil not use öll honorable means to protect hie own property and that of his neight)ors if possible. That we sliall most nssuredly do, but to have never, either directly or indirectly, ;used any but honorable and fair meanfi, nor have we practiced any deception upon any one. It is one of the old-fashioned tricks of the Pree Press to tnisrepresent this paper and lts editor, but it never gainfcd anythln by it, and we doubt very mueh if St ever will. The same eheet has jiow taken to misrepresenting General Alger, and publishing the ile slanders of the N. Y. Sun against him that were so 'bitterly denounced by the democratie Officials and ex-officials of this county In a recently pubhshed card. And after publiehing these slanders, refused to publish a gentlenaanly and kindly W-ritten letter of Gen. Alsier's.in reply. The peopïe wi'll certainly give little credit to eueli unfair journalism.
