Tuesday was a gala day for the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in this city. The two lodges here, Washtenaw and Otsinengo, together with the Cantón or Uniformed Rank of the order, joined in inviting several lodges of this section of the state to assist them in celebrating the 73d anniversary of the establishment of Odd Fellowship in this country. Every train coming to the city during the forenoon bore meuibers of visiting brothers, and their ladies, and by noon the streets were filled with members of the order. At 1 :30 o'clock the procession was formed, headed by the Chelsea band, and contained from &50 tó 300 Odd Fellows. The various places represented by lodges in the line were : Wayne, Plymouth, South Lyon, Dexter, Milan, Mooreville, Ypsilanti, Belleville and Howell. After the procession had been disbanded, a public meeting was held at the Rink, at which Mayor Do tv welcomed the visitors in choice and pleasing words, to which Capt. C. H. Manly responded in a neat speech on behalf of the order. At the close of these exercises those who had been initiated into the mysteries of the order repaired to Otsinengo lodge room, where some excellent work was done on one of the degrees of the order. In the evening, at the Rink, the exercises of the day were fittingly closed with a banquet and ball. There were between 300 and 400 couples present, and the enjoyment was unconfined. Tables were set for 160 persons, and it took from about 9 o'clock to about 1 o'clock to serve all present. Everything from the rising of the sun Tuesday morning, to nearly the same event Wednesday morning, passed off without a flaw. It was one of the most thoroughly enjoyed events that was ever held in Ann Arbor.
