Ami Arbor, May 10, 1892. Editor Oourier:- Ann Arbor is proverbially dull from July 1, to October, and it need not be. We can make it lively. One plan is to hart' the univcrsity open Slimmer Schools. Harvard ünlverslty is doing it. and has been, and advertises tlicm widely. Let the Business Jlen's Association appoint a committee to go at once to the president and facuïty and request them to open schools this year. Cörnell commenées this year, and a large number of teachers wiio go to Harvard or Cornell would come here because it would cost so mach less than at those places where board is véry high. Let our business men understand that teachers from all parts of the country attend these seiiools. Some go to study thel anguagès or one language; gome go to study matti ematics alone; some to study the applied sciences. If these schools were started this year, we could get 500 or 1,000 teachers to come, and in three years 2,000 or 3,000 or as many as there are students in the University now. This -will advertise the city and the university. In tact be the very best advertisement for the University, since the teachers would most likely recommend their pupils to come to the University. Ann Arbor gave $2,000 to the univergity for a hospital and her citizens have subscribed liberally to found a School of Music, and the Business Men'e Association should go to the faculty and ask the university to return the favor by opening Summer Schools sinée the benefit will be mutual. Let us hear from the resident alumni on this matter.
