At the moeting of the Teacher's Association of Washtenaw county, lield at the Ann Arbor High School last Saturday, commenclng at 10 o'clock a. in., there were about 150 oí the teachers of the county in attendance. The forenoon and afternoon sessions were both oi an exceedingly interestin."; nature, and the teachers all went to their homes feellng that it was good tor thein to have been there. Trof. W. S. Perry talked on "What the Teacher is Before the Class," and it was one of the best talks 01 I meeting. In eloeing iris remarks the Professor gave our commissioner of schools some words of praise. He sak that Mr. Cavanaugh, in introdueing a system of gradtag Lato the district schools, had done tor them a great deal of good, and that the scholars viiio graduated from district schools ander this system, come better prepared and made better scholars than had been heretofore received from the district schools. Miss Nina Yandewarker, of the State Normal School also gave an excellent paper, on "Seeing They see Not," which referred to the teaching of science in the schools, before the pupils reaehed the 8th grade. After the afternoon session, officers were elected for the ensuing year, as follows: President- Prof A. A. Hall, of Chelees,. Yice-president- Miss Nellie Horner, of Ypgilanti. Seeretary- Prof E. D. Walker, of Dexter. Treasurer - J. G. Leiand, of Northfield. Executive Committee - Commissionei; M. J. Cavanaugh, Ann Arbor; Supt. W. A. Whitney, Ypsilanti; W. N. Lester, of Saline; Prof. O. L. Blodgett, of Manchester; Miss Josephine Costello, of Dexter. Mnslc Committee- Misses Eleanor Hagard. of Ypsilanti; Janet Y'. Van Dusen, Ypsilanti; Nettie Storms, Chelsea; Edith Case, Manchester; Ldllie Schlee, Ann Arbor. This is the first time there has been a teacher's Assoeiation in this county. During the past year three meetings have been held, all well attended, and all productive of much good. It is neediess to say the assoeiation will keep forging aliead.
