In view oí the tact that there are such large numbers of patients being comtioaually turnetl away from the Uuiiversity hospital for the want of room, there is some talk of organiziing a stock company here for the purpose of erecting a new buüding, to ie loca teil betweem the two wi-ngs aleïiuy erecu'd, accordiiag to th original designs. Then il' the state dcsiired to purchase it at any time it could do so. Some dozen or more citzens have already expressed a williaigness to invest in sucli, a plan. The arrangement to be made would be to pay thiis eompany $2 per .week of the $5 the patiejits pay in, which would produce a fair interest on money iinvested. It Ie thought that from 30 to 50 more patients wouW be in constant attendance if there was room to accommodate them. ■ ■ The AVashtenaw Evening Times announced that the Chicago Heraia liad the best write-up of the Ooilege Cluh Banquet. In that -vrite-up we iind this sentence: "There are no daily papers in Ann Arbor to make announcements, and the result was that Hot 5 per cent. of the public knew oí the change of programme, etc." That statement was not eomplimentary to the Times. It was mot true. Bufc it was on a par wilth the "balance oí the article, whMi was full of misinformatron, mig-statements and ex. aggeratioms. The cartoons were as applicable to the article as a tooth brush would be to a hen's mouth There was neither wilt nor spice in the four columns devoted to the affair. lts supposvtioiie were wild, its guesses far f rom the mark, and its statements Incorrect. If that report is a specimen of the way the Herald usually serves its readers, it certainly can not pose as a Iriend to truth. o. . If Senator Wolcott, of Colorado, is slightly daft om silver, he is sound on another point. He has introduced a joint resohition in the senate proposing an amendment to the conStitutian making the presidential and vice-presidential term six years inatead of fotir as at present, and making the president ineligible to a seeondi term. That ia a change demanded by the people, and should be submitted to the legislaturés of the states at once for tlieir approval.
