Minutes oí previous meeting approved . KErOKTS OF STANDING (JOMMITTEES. BTKEET, To the Common Cornial: Your committee on streets, to whom was referred the application ot' oertain persons interested in land along Brooks street for leave to grade and take the gravel therefrom, and, the petition of certain persons for the extensión of División street southerly to Hill street, and the fixing of grades and grading certain streets on the addition of John F. Lawrence, and also for an appropriation of money to grade south Fourth avenue, and also for the construction of a stone orossing on the east side of Main street crossing Liberty street, and also for the construction of a like street crossing on Afin street on the west side of Main street, Eespectfully report that they have had the various matters under consideration and would recommend that all such matters be disposed of as follows: That the applicatiou lor leave to grade and take the gravel f rom Brooks street be denied for the reason that the city wilt have use f oü all such gravel. That the petition for the extensión of División street south to ilill street, be granted on condition that the laud owners do couvey to the city all necessary lands therefor without cost, and that the proposed roadway be put in passable shape without expense to the city. That the petitiou to fix grade on Edwin and Mary streets be denied until the plat of Mr. John F. Lawience be subinitted to this council for approval. That the sum of one luindred and fifty dollars be appropriated froni the street fund for the grading of South Fourth avenue, and that the sum of fifty dollars be appropriated for each of said street crossings, and herewith submit a proper resolution for such appropriations. SIDEWALK COSIMITTEH RBPQBT. 2'o the Common Council: Your committee on sidewalks, to whom was referred the several petitions f or sidewalks now on file, respectfully report that tliey have had the subject matter of said petitions under consideration, and lind that the grading and construction of the following sidewalks are all necessary public improvenoents, and would respectfully recommend that the following sidewalks be ordered graded and constructed, viz: On Thirteenth street along1 the west side from Ann stieet to Fuller street. On Gott street along the west side from Killer avenue to Summit street. On Summit street along the north side from Main street to Spring street. On Ashley stieet along the east and west side from W. Chairman Fillmore presented liquor dealers bond of John Berger as principal and Herman Hardinghaus and John Wagner, all of the City of Ann Arbor as sureties, recommended the acceptance with the sureties named, Aid. Prettyman moved that the bond be accepted and adopted and the bond approved. Which rnotion prevailed. Aid. O'Mara moved that the report of the Water Committee, which was laid upon the table at the last meeting, be now taken from the table. Which motion prevailed. Aid. O'Mara moved that the report be accepted and adopted and placed on file. Which motion prevailed by a yea and nay vote as follows: Yeas- Aid. Schairer, Martin, Fillmore, Snow. By Alderman Kitson: Resolved, That the grading and construction of the sidewalks hereinafter mentioned is deemed and declared a necessary public improvement. Theret'ore, Itis liereby ordered that plank sidewalks be graded, built, and constructed on and along thefollowing streets and in front of the following property in the city of Ann Albor, viz: On Thirteenth street, along the west side, from Ann street to Fuller stieet. On Gott stieet, along the west side. from Miller avenue to Summit street. On Summit street, along the north side, from Main stieet to Spring street. Olivia St, be, aud the same is hereby ehanged, tixed aud established, so that the grade of said sidewalk ou aud aloug the streel aforesaid shall be as follows, that is to say : At southeast eornor Forest Ave. aud Hill St 863.2Í ft. By Alderman Kitson: Resolved, That, and it is liereby ordered that the width of the sidewalk on and along the north side of Korth University avenue be, and the same is liereby fixed at six (6) feet, and that said sidewalk be constructed six feet ín width. Aid. Ferguson moved that the resoution be referred to the Sidewalk Committee. Which motion was lost by a yea and nay vote as follows: Yeas. - Aid. Herz, Fillmore, Fergusen, and O'Mara- 4. Kitson: Resolved, That so much of the eomnunication of tlie Board of Public Works, March21st, 1892, with reference o street sigus be retened to Street Committee. Aid. Ferguson moved tbat the resoution be laid upon the table. Wliich motion was lost by a yea and nay vote as follows. Yeas. - Aid. Herz, Fillmore, Ferguson, O'Mara, and Rehberg.- 5. Nays.- Aid. Schairer, Martin, Snow, Taylor, Kitson, and Prettyman. - 6. The resolution of Aid. Kitson then prevailed. By Alderman Martin: Resolved, That the sum of one hnndred and flfty dollars be appropriated ■f rom the street fund and expended in the grading of S. Fourth avenue. Which resolution prevailed by a yea and nay vote as follows: Yeas. - Aid. Schairer, Martin, Herz, Fillmore, Snow, Ferguson, O'Mara, Taylor, Kitson, and Prettyman. - 10. Nays.- Aid. Rehberg.- 1. By Alderman Martin: Resolved, That the sum of one hundred dollars be appropriated trom the Bridge, Culvert, and Crosswalk Fund and expended in the construction of two stone crosswalks, one on the east side of Main street, erossing Liberty street, and one on the west side of Main street, crossiug Ann street. Wliich" resolution prevailed by a 3'ea and nay vote as follows: Yeas.- Aid. Schairer, Martin, Herz, Fillmore, Snow, Ferguson, O'Mara, Rehberg, Taylor, Kitson, and Prettyman. - 11. Nays.- None. By Aid. Schaker: Resolved, Tbat N. W. Cheever and ?. A. Noble be allowed to construct he sidewalk in front of their premises on the west side of Chapín street upon he same grade and in the same place as the old walk now constructed. Aid. O'Mara moved that the resolution be laid on the table. Whioh motion prevailed. By Aid. Prettyman: Resolved, That the Board of Public Works be relieved fropa further supervisión oí shade trees in the streets of the city. Whicli resolution prevailed. Aid. O'Mara moved that the chair appoint a eommittee of five, consisting of the Water Committee and two members of this Council, and that such committee be charged with the duty of conducting the investigation and making report thereof on the matter stated in the report of the Water Committee this day adopted by this Council. Which motion prevailed and the chair thereupou appointed the followng committee: The Water Committee and Aid. Prettyman and Aid. Martin. On motion the Council adjourued. W. J. Miller, City Clerk.
