From the Lansing Republican. In three weeks the city wlU be ïrowded wfth all sorts of people, visitors to the forty-fourth annual Michigan stat fair. Th is promises, {rom all appearanees, to be the best and argest ever held in the history of the association. To-day the secretary is busy sending the advertising posters all over tlie state. These vosters are very attractive, being rinted in nine different styles and are sure to draw at tent ion. A íeature that will doubtless be very promütaent is the bieycle tournanieTrtfor which the programme has been arranged. Such was the success of this venture last year that the association has seen fit to doublé the anurant of prizes Mid it is seldorn that a betterliet can be shown than that given below. No horses will be allowed on the track, and the entire meet, which will be under the auspices o{ the Lansing bieycle club, will eclipse all forcner occasions. The folowing is a list of events and prizes: 1. One mile safety- First prize, gold medal, alued at $26; second, toilet case, $8; third atent-leather shoes, $6 ; foiirth, one-half dozen lcycle hose, 4.50. 2. Two mile handicap- First, suit of clothes 30; second, oak table, $15; third, silver shav ng mug, $8; fourth, Dunlap derby, $5. 3. One mile Lansing bieycle club championhip- Firet, gold medal, S30; second, fruit dish, 16; third, eilver cup and saucer, $"; fourthi ne pair bieycle shoes, $2 50. i. One half mile- First, dressing case, $50; econd, epergne, $20; third, silk umbrella, $6; ourth, eut glass perfume bottle, $6. 5. Two mile Michigan state fair championhip - First, gold medal, $35; second, marble lock, $28; third, opera glasses, S10; fourth, cuff and collar case, $C. 6. Quarter mile dash- First, writiug desk, 20; second, pocket knife, $10; third, one-half dozen dress shirts, $9; fourth, sterling silver aue,$7. 7. Five mile handicap- First, toilet case, $30; econd, bronze statuary, $30; third, Euglish club 8atchel,$8; fourth, carving set, $5. 8. One mile, 2:40 class- First, silver clock, 50; second, opeu-faced gold watch,$20; third, timer watch, $9; fourth, Guyar hat, $4. 9. One mile handicap- First, gold watch, $30; second, oak rocker, $18; third, faucy table, J8; ourth, patent leather shoes, $5.50. 10. One mile, 3:00 class- First, piano lamp. 20; second, silver pitcher, 817; third, Pauline vase, $10; fourth, cordovan shoes, $5. A gold medal valued at $20 will be gïyen to the rider making the best tune dwing the meet. Event 5 is open to Michigan riders only, and all others, except No. 3, are open to the statee and Canada.
