The Moravian, published in Jamaica, on the Atlantic ouesB island of that uame, gives the U. of M. this send off: "As many of our yonng men seeni to be anxious o secure for theniselves the advautages of a liberal education, and are willing to undergo some sacrifico that tliey may gain it, we would comïneud to the notice of all such the peculiar advantrges oftered by the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. This niagniflcent seat of learning is rapidlv taking its place at the heah of the universitiea of America, and is enjoying a well earned reputation. From a communication from the president, Dr. James B. Angelí, we learn that students of all countries and all colors are welcomed and treated alike ; anl from the calendar we learn that the total annual expense for each student need not exceed for tuition and board the sum of L60. The advantages of such an opportunity are obvious. We will be glad to impart additional information to interested partios." When Dr. MacLachlan was in Scotland this summer he visited the home of his clan, and was entertained by the laird of the MacLachlans, who is chief of this clan. It used to be very powerful, hut at Culloden field 300 of their best flghting warriors were killed. The old castle is beautifully situated on Loch Fine, and the present laird is a young man of thirtv, who occupies t in summer for shooting. He received our University professor iu full Highland costume, and it goes without saying that the Dr. returns home to Ann Arbor full of the old Scottish legends and history, also a full library of books on Scotland and her barda, to prove anything he says.
