All the great interest of the state were treated as of trivial imponam-e -ompared to the desperate democratie parpóse t deprive the great majority oí the people of the state trom further equitable representa t ion in future stat' and national legisla tion. This purposo was at last accomplished, at a cost of ünany, many tiiousauds of dolla-rs to the peo])le of Michigan, and through in exposure of demaiTatic shanwlesKiness and desperation which surpassed the revolutionary record of that or any party ijl any other stat in the unión.
